It appears that Abraham Colson and his family lived on the land he ahd obtained in Colleton County S C for several years, at least from 1738 untill 1745, when he was granted more land in Craven County, of the same province. The pertinent provisions of this grant follow. (Ibid, Vol. 4 p., 19)

George II, etc. ***do give and grant unto Abraham Colson, his heirs and assigns, all that parcel or Tract of Land Containing 600 Acres situate laying and being in the Welch Tract in Craven County, in the Province aforesaid, and butting and bounding South Easterly on Peedee River North Westerly on Penelope Daviss Land, and North Easterly on vacant land.***Given under the Great Seal
of our Said Province***
Witness James Glen, Esq., Captain General, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over our said Province of South Carolina, this 24th day of May anno dom 1745***
