Page 96 Deed poll, Aug.20,1798 GEORGE MICHIE, to JOHN MICHIE, both of Louisa County, VA. Whereas by a deed dated March 4, 1794 between Daniel Broadhead, Jr. of one part, and Thomas Barnett, George Michie, and John Downing of the other part, considerable property was conveyed from the said Broadhead as will more fully appear by reference to a deed recorded in the District Court of Richmond, for the purpose of raising 2,125 Pounds for the said John Michie in case Broadhead did not comply with certain conditions therein mentioned, by public auction on giving 30 days previous notice of the time and place of the sale in the VIRGINIA GAZETTE. and whereas Broadhead has failed to comply with the said conditions, and George Michie proceeded on July 20th in the same year to make sale of the following property, for which John Michie became the highest bidder and purchaser. Said tract of land being in Goochland County Virginia being known as Belair, also 3 pine tables, a lot of walnut chairs..( lists other items), 160 acres of land called "Hermitage", 104 acres at Westham in Henrico Co. near Richmond, the title being in John Powell of Georgia, Doctor of Medicine, near 5,000 acres in KY, an old entry in the name of Daniel Broadhead, Jr. lying on the Rolling Fork of Salt River, sundry western lands conveyed by Benjamin Netherland to Daniel Broadhead Jr. in Ky and elsewhere, about 400 acres of KY land which is designated as in the possession of Jacob Bruner on March 4,1794 3,500 acres of military lands surveyed in the name of Alexander Parker, heir 2,000 acres of military lands in the name of Daniel Broadhead Jr. Garland's bond for 144 pounds. Now this Deed Poll witnesses that in consideration of the premises and for 5 shillings, the aforementioned property is conveyed to John Michie. Witnessed by James Michie, David Watson, Richard C. Johnson, John Crawford, Nat Harris, and John Michie. Recorded Goochland County, Virginia March 19,1799 and by the Ky Court of Appeals, Jan. 8,1810

page 100 Deed Poll March 4,1794 DANIEL BROADHEAD JR. to Thomas Barnett, GEORGE MICHIE, and John Downing. Whereas the said Broadhead formerly purchased of JOHN MICHIE a tract of land in GOOCHLAND Co. VA known by the name of Belair adjoining the lands of William PRYOR and others, and containing near 1,000 acres, togerther with sundry other property to be paid for by the said Broadhead in KY lands, and whereas Broadhead has failed to comply with his part of the agreement, and upon having further time granted him, is willing to make sure a compliance to the said MICHIE. Now this Deed Poll witnesses that in consideration of the premises of sundry engagements entered into by the said MICHIE, as security and bail for the said Broadhead, and for 5 shillings, Broadhead conveys Thomas Barnett, George Michie, and John Downing the following property, to wit, the tract of land lying as aforesaid with all its appurtenances including tree stills fixed or intended to be fixed,.... lists furniture etc, it being the same purchased of the said JOHN MICHIE, a wagon and team, now in the city of Richmond, sundry slaves, purchased of William RADFORD, merchant in which a certain ELIZABETH JOHNSON of Louisa Co. VA has now or has had a life estate, the land and plantation in KY called the HERMITAGE lying on Bear Grass Creek containing 160 acres a tract of land at Westham containing 104 acres, of which the possession and equitable title only is in the said Broadhead and the legal title is in the name of JOHN POWELL, Doctor of Medicine in Georgia, an old entry in the name of Broadhead containing near 5,000 acres in KY on the Rolling Fork of Salt River, and sundry western lands in KY, as conveyed by Benjamin NETHERLAND and in the possession of Jacob Bruner, containing about 400 acres, 5,000 or 6,000 acres of Military lands as by surveys 3,500 acres of which were surveyed in the name of Alexander PARKER, heir, and the balance in the name of Broadhead, Archibald Davis' bond for 300 pounds besides interest, John GARLAND's bond for 144 pounds. All said property being conveyed in trust, and if the said Broadhead shall on or before the last day of May next fail to procure from his father, Daniel Broadhead of Philadelphia, William MARSHALL of Richmond, and the assignee or assignees of his said father under the statute of bankruptcy, a release or releases t these tracts of land lying in KY formerly conveyed by the said Daniel Broadhead jr., to JOHN MICHIE, ATTORNEY, by two deeds dated Oct.12,1791 to wit, one tract lying on Floyds Fork in Jefferson Co. Ky surveyed in the name of WALKER DANIEL and containing 8,843 acres, one lying on Indian Creek, a branch of Hingstons Fork of Licking River, located, surveyed and patented in the name of Daniel Broadhead, Jr., containing 7,316 acres, and one lying on Knobb Creek in Jefferson Co. KY surveyed and patented in the name of Daniel Broadhead, Jr., containing 1000 acres of all their right, title and interest in each of three tracts respectively and to vest by legal means as may be devised by JOHN MICHIE to all the right, title and interest in said tracts, or if the said Broadhead shall fail to save harmless and indemnify the said MICHIE as to all and every case of michie having become the bail or security for Broadhead, then Thomas Barnett, George Michie and John Downing, or either of them, upon giving 30 days notice of the time and place of the sale, shall proceed to sell at public auction of the whole of the said property herein described, or so much of it as necessary to raise the sum of 2,125 Pounds, with any contingent costs or charges that may arise, as well as the costs of the sale. Witnessed by William DUNCAN, Charles FOX, and Cuthbert BANKS. Recorded District Court held in Richmond, VA Sept. 13,1794, and by the Ky Court of Appeals Jan.8,1810

page 385 Indenture March 29,1814, Robert Simpson, and Peggy Simpson, his wife, James Smith, and Prudence Smith, his wife, and Hugh Smith, and Ann Smith, his wife, devisees of JOHN MCGEE, dec'd of Mercer Co. KY to Ralph Phillips of Hunterdon Co. NJ for $50, a tract of land in Shelby Co. KY on the north side of Salt River, which interferes with the claim of the said Phillips of 3,000 acre, it being a part of a 360 acre tract devised by the said JOHN MCGEE to his daughters, Peggy, Prudence, and Ann. Acknowledged on March 30,1814 by Robert and Peggy Simpson, and Hugh and Ann Smith at which time Peggy and Ann relinquished their rights of dower. Acknowledged on March 31, 1814 by James and Prudence Smith, at which time Prudence relinquished her rights of dower( Both acknowledgements in Mercer Co. KY) Recorded by the Ky Court of Appeals April 2,1814
