Crissy his wife to Anthony Street
Nov.1768 - 1771 Joseph MCGEE either testified in court
as a witness for various people or was a juror.
May 1770 Joseph MCGEHEE acknowledged a deed of bargain
& sale to Anthony WINSTON & on motion the same be
ordered to be registered.
page 163 Feb. 1771 Ordered that Tabitha MCGEE a base
begotten child born of the body of Peggy MCGEE aged
abt. 6 yrs be bound to Thomas Bradley until she attain
to the age of 18 yrs the said Thomas to learn the said
Tabitha to read & write & housewifery
1771-1772 Joseph MCGEE again appears as a juror
May 1772 page 232 A deed from Michael MCGEE to george
WREN was proven by oath of John Solomon.
Aug.1772 Licence is granted to Richard WARD to keep an
ordinary at his house who with Joseph MCGEE entered
into & executed a bond for that purpose.

each their commission from under the hand of his
Excellency the Gov. appointing them Capts of the
millitia of this Co. took the oaths appointed to be
taken by Publick officers repeated & subscribed the

Nov.1772-Aug.1774 Joseph was again a juror and showed
up in the records as such.
Aug. 1774 A deed from Solomon Fuller Junr to Joseph
MCGEE was proved by oath of Clement MULLIN
Feb. 1775 Licence is granted to joseph MCGEE to keep
an ordinary at his house who with Benjamin HILL his
security entered into & executed a bond for that
purpose

Duplin County, NC - Revolutionary War Military Services
MAGEE or McGEHEE, William, Private, Duplin Militia William McGehee (Magee-MeGee) was living in Edgecombe County as early as 1733. He was Sheriff of Edgecombe County in 1748. He moved to that part of Duplin which became Sampson County about 1750. He married Anne Moore, the daughter of Joseph Moore. Issue: 1-James McGehee (died 1820) married Peggy Ayers and lived in Marlboro SC; 2-a daughter who married a Mr. Hodges; 3-a son who married and lived in South Carolina; 4-Hartwell McGehee; 5-Martha McGehee who married the Reverend Evans Pugh; and 6-Elizabeth McGehee (1760-1849) who married James Harrington.

May 1764 Court, Granville Co., NC,
Ordered that the following Jury to wit: Joseph Peace,
Isham Parham, John Smith, Ebenezer Wilson, John
Dickerson, John Hurnden, James Sanland, Benjamin
McGeehee, Corns. Cooper, John McKissock, Nathan
McGehee, John White, Isaac Arnold, William Jordan,
John Nevil, John Parham, Samuel Benton and Thomas
Person, lay off a road from out of the new Road at
Bradford's road, crossing Tar River near George
Priddy's, directing its course to Oxford and make
report thereof to the next court. John Dickerson was
appointed overseer of the said road and all the hands
between Fishing Creek and Tabbs Creek the old trading
road from the present court house to Harrisburg from
thence to the mouth of Fishing Creek & from thence to
the mouth of Tabbs Creek were ordered to open and
maintain the same to Tar River. Teste Daniel Wildon,
CC. Reverse Order for road John Dickerson, overseer.
In obedience to the within order have summoned the
within named Joseph Peace, John Herndon, John Smith,
Eber. Wilson,NATHAN MCGEHE Cornelious Cooper, John
Dickerson, Isham Parham and John Parham to meet at
Harrisburgh, Monday the 2nd day July next. Summons all
the jury this side Tar River & NATHAN MCGEHEE which
will be enough to do the road. Desire the jury to meet
by an hour by sun in the morning that we may finish in
one day or otherwise we shall hinder more that a day.
J. P. Jul 2-8, 1764, Pursuat to the annexed order to
us directed, we the subscribers have layed of the road
with liberty to the overseer on the north side of Tar
river to straighten the road on that side as we this
day agreed the same should be done and we also
libertise the overseer on the south side of the said
river to straighten the bents of the ridge path and to
fall into Bradford's road at or near a flat rock on
the roads about half a mile above the county line. Jul

Parham, John Herndon, Isaac Arnold, John Parham, John
Smith, Thomas Person, Corneluous Cooper, Ebenezer
Wilson, NATHAN MCGEHEE and John Dickesen, Jr.
This indenture made the 27 day of November in the
Year of our Lord 1777 Between Nathaniel McGehee of
the County of Granville & Province of North Carolina
of the one part & John Rogers of the County of Pitt of
the Province of North Carolina of the other part
Witnesseth that the sd. Nathaniel McGehee for & in
consideration of the sum of one Hundred pounds paid
money to him in hand paid at or before the sealing &
delivery of these present the receipt whereof the sd.
Nathaniel McGehee doth hereby acknowledge hath given
granted bargained & sold at____ted & confirmed & by
these presents do fully freely and absolutely give
grant bargain & sell ____ convey & confirm unto the
said John Rogers his heirs Adm. or assigns forever one
tract or parcel of Land Situated, lying & being in the
County of Granville aforesaid Containing by estimation
one hundred acres, more or less, Butted & bounded as
follows, to wit: Beginning at White Oak of the said
McGehee's Corner on the little fork of Taylor Creek,
thence along this line to a hickory, thence by a line
of marked trees to a white Oak thence by a line of
white trees to a red oak on the aforesaid Creek thence
across the creek to the first station it being part of
a tract of Land granted to JAMES MCGEHEE FATHER OF
NATHANIAL MCGEHEE ....
