hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs and
took the necessary oaths & etc.

11 Jan 1827 – page 130- Benjamie McGee, David Mayberry and others, to be a jury of view to mark a road nearest and best from Somerville to the road from Heads Ferry to Memphis, crossing Wolf River at or near a point called Hay’s Ford and make report there of to the next term of this court.
12 Jan 1829 – page 306 – Elizabeth McGehee came into court and on motion it is ordered that she have letters of administration on all and singular the goods and chattles of Benjamine McGehee where upon she came into court and give bond with William Hoys, G. G. McGehee and John Culbertson her securities in the sum of eight hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs and took the necessary oaths and chattles.

Sandy I don't know what it means)

ELIJAH MCGEEHEE be allowed the sum of $5.00 for bacon
furnished the poor house
11/6/1837
ordered that George W. Moody, David Morris and RICHARD
MCGEE be appointed commisssioners to settle with
Martha WATKINS admins. of John G. Watkins deceased &
make their report to the term of this court.
7/6/1840
This day came Thomas K. Porter & produced &
exhibited in open court a paper writing purporting to
be the last will & testament of ELIZABETH G. BEASLEY
late a resident of Henry Co. deceased & thereupon came
ELIJAH MCGEHEE & JOHN S. MCGEHEE subscribing
witnesses.
I found her will and Elijah and John were the two
witnesses

JOHN MCGEHEE was a juror
also in April John McGehee was a witness in the case
of the State vs Green W. Leek.
April 1847
Talks about court ordered that district line be
changed and mentions RICHARD MCGEES corner
June 1848
SIMON(sic) H.MCGEHEE was appointed juror
from Henry Co. Tn History and Families. This book had
various articles in it. It looked like a year book
almost with pictures and family histories and in the
back newspaper articles etc.
ELIJAH MCGEHEE left VA in 1830's & bought several
parcels of land in northeastern part of Henry Co.
about 2 miles west of Buchanan. He & his family
VIRGINIA WALKER MCGEHEE, there family & numerous
slaves moved to the property.
ELIJAH died just before or about the time the Civil
War began. He left 2 sons : William & Elijah and six
daughters :

Elijah's will is on page 259 again on microfilm

JOHN B.MCGEHEE was a subscriber of the Weekly Register
a newspaper published in Paris Tn May 6,1848( I know I
know that was a very important piece of info at least
we know he could read!!!!)
On Nov.10,1849 ABNER C. MCGEHEE & SUSAN CHANDLER were
married

widow of James McGehee Junior now decd.This states that Elizabeth McGehee,
G. G. McGehee, John W. McGehee,
Wm. D. McGehee, Adelia McGehee and Stephen Nowlin (all of Crittenden County,
AR) were heirs of James McGehee (land granted him in a Letter Patent dated
18 April 1825.) The parties in Crittenden County are neighbors in the 1850
AR census.
1851 Deed Book 1, Page 179-181 Martha T. McGehee and Bartlett Baugh of
Todd Co. KY. sells the James McGehee land to Judson Horn. .names her four
children Joseph L. McGehee, Mary E. McGehee, Sarah L. McGehee, and John
McGehee. .all tracts of land belonging to James McGehee in his lifetime
upon which he lived and which descended at his death to his eleven heirs of
whom James McGehee Jun. was one who is now also dead leaving said Martha and
her four children his heirs at law. six of the said 11 heirs have conveyed
their interest in said land to said Martha for her life and at her death to
belong to her 4 children..so that Martha and her said children now own seven
out of the eleven shares in said land and it is this seven shares that are
now conveyed to Horn(Bartlett Baugh was Martha’s father)..
1851 Deed Book I, Page 97 W.C. S. McGehee takes cash for his property and
furniture to settle debts for cash. If he repays S. Wilson with 8 months
the sale will be void.

McGehee's - G.G. McGehee was my great great Grandfather...I have more info
on Martha's children who were in KY.....let me know if you have any

Why this was in Shelby County I don't know. Can't
remember now.
At a court held for Prince Edward Co. 12/17/1821 this
last will & testament of John Perkison dec'd was
presented in court & proved by oaths of Simeon Walton
& WILLIAM MCGEHEE.
later I found the will and Simeon Walton, Lucy Walton
and WM MCGEHEE were the witnesses of the will.

22 July 1835 – page 232 – McGehee, F. – witness/juror
22 July 1835 – page 233 – McGehee, F. – paid a fine for twenty five cents for the prosecution of Elijah Gibson.
Court was held in the town of Raleigh in Shelby County on the first Monday of the appointed month…
Sept. 1836 – page 303 – Ordered that E. Baker oversee the west Randolph road from No. East Best to McGehee’s Mill with the hands of T. M. McGehee, H. Stubberfield, L. B. Tyson and his own.
Page 304 – Ordered that Joseph Walker oversee that part of the Big Creek Road from the fork of the road to Cany Branch with the hands of Samuel Hill, Lewis wossit, Blewford Clarke, Esqr. Massey, D. Braken, B. Glisson, N. McGehee, G. G. McGehee, F. Smith, D. Franklin and his own.
3 July 1836 – page 324 – Ordered that Jesse Clayton, Clayton J. Isam, J. Kelly, J. Newsom, G. McGehee, M. Kelly, and William Clayton be a jury of view to mark out and lay off a road from a point near Jas. Newson in the direction to Concorda the nearest and best way to county line and report accordingly.

May 1837 – page 339 - On petition it is ordered that James Harrol, D. C. Treadwell, J. G. Sandiford, R. A. Motley and G. G. McGehee, J. B. Boyd and J. Wilson be a jury to examine and report to court the expediency of so altering the road leading by John B. Persons cotton gin toward Sommerville as to throw it back upon the original round it being represented that its present location is a very bad one.
Aug 1839 – page 448 – Ordered men to be committee to let out repairing of the bridge across Big Creek at McGee’s Mill to the lowest bidder and report accordingly.
Ordered that Fountain McGee be released from working on the stage road and be placed under James Brooks, overseer on the Germantown Road.
Ordered that Fountain McGee be released from the payment of double tax on 2158 acres of land in district No. 2 valued at $ 75.13?? tax.
